How-do-you-do,

This issue could be due to the fact that the CDisplay application might non exist uniform with Windows 8.one.

As per the data on Windows Compatibility center, there is no information for the application's compatibility with Windows 8.ane. But, it's compatible with Windows 8. Refer to the link to go the details:

http://www.microsoft.com/en-in/windows/compatibility/CompatCenter/ProductDetailsViewer?Name=CDisplayEx&vendor=CDisplayEx&Locale=1033%2C2057%2C3081%2C4105%2C16393&ModelOrVersion=1&BreadCrumbPath=cdisplayex&LastSearchTerm=cdisplayex&Type=Software&tempOsid=Windows%208.one

And so, when you search for the books using the Start screen search, it may not show the thumbnails view. Merely, information technology will bear witness the name of the file only.

I would propose y'all to uninstall and reinstall the application in Windows 8 compatibility mode. Verify the results.

Follow the steps:

Uninstall the application from Programs and Features:

a) Printing Windows and X fundamental together and select Programs and Features.

b) Locate the CDisplay application and double click on information technology. Follow the onscreen instructions to uninstall the application.

c) Locate the setup file for the application and correct click on the setup file.

d) Select Properties and go to Compatibility tab. Choose "Run this program in Windows Compatibility mode for". Select Windows viii from the drib down list.

e) Click on Use and and then on OK.

f) Double Click on the setup file and follow the onscreen instructions to install the awarding.

Bank check if it shows up the thumbnail icon for the search results on the Start screen.

Please let u.s. know if the issue still persists.

I followed the steps you provided and even reinstalled some other time when the compatibility troubleshooter suggested I can try again with different settings. That didn't work as well.

Thumbnails are displayed automatically on the initial search column only it reverts back to icons on the full-screen search. It pops up the thumbnail if I hover the mouse over a file but that's again a much slower and fourth dimension-consuming process. If all the files are in the aforementioned folder, I open folder location to browse through them just understandably, that method doesn't really piece of work when files are split amidst different folders.

If the search 'app' had viewing options like explorer, I could sort it out since automobile-thumbnail features even so work for that without a problem. It'south just the full-screen search that insist on using icons.

In fact I'd exist okay with simply existence able to enlarge the column considering not only it shows thumbnails but it also finds and begins displaying results much, much faster. Like in ii-3 seconds compared to fifteen-20 seconds for full-screen search.

I was referring to Start Screen search, thumbnails are displayed just fine in File Explorer. That's more the reason I don't understand why they don't work on Start Screen searches.

Hi,

I have just tried searching for a file. Information technology's a paradigm file. When i offset searching, i practise find search column showing the thumbnail view. The total screen search window, after hitting Enter in the search charm, would show upwardly the thumbnail icon along with other results.

is this issue specific to the file related to comic volume format?

I would suggest you to rebuild the index and cheque if information technology resolves the issue.

  • Press Windows Cardinal + Ten, select Command Panel and click on Indexing Options.
  • Click Advanced, click the Alphabetize Settings tab, and so click Rebuild.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

Please permit united states of america know if the upshot still persists.

Thanks for your feedback.

Aye, information technology'due south specific to files with comic book formats like cbr, cbz, cb7 which are in fact just archive file types which are renamed, like rar, zip and 7z. Just CDisplay enables File Director to display thumbnails for those comic volume formats and I tin can view the thumbnails in File Manager without any trouble. The problem is during Start Screen searches. I didn't have that issue back in Win8 which is rather confusing.

Hullo,

Did you attempt re-edifice the index in response to the issue?

If not, please try the steps suggested earlier and check if it helps. If the issue still persists, I would suggest you to check if the comic folder that is present under File Explorer is in thumbnail view. It's not about the fashion CDisplay shows upwardly the files. Nosotros are because the way the file shows up under a normal folder or drive. Check if changing the folder or file view to thumbnail view under File Explorer helps to fix the issue.

Also, check if the comic folder shows in thumbnail view in safe mode.

Exercise let us know if the consequence yet persists.

Yes, multiple times. Information technology's not that the files aren't displayed at all just their thumbnail previews (that normally displays the first image file of the archive) aren't shown on Kickoff Screen search 'app' that comes when you hit enter afterward you type in the search bar. All I get are standard file icons. However those thumbnail previews are shown for the same comic book archives on File Explorer. And even more confusing is that I can even so see them if I don't hitting enter that causes the search the pop upwardly the fullscreen 'search app', but the search results are express on i column at the side of the screen then.

Then the outcome seems to be restricted to this 'search app' that came with 8.1, on all other methods there's no problem.

I ready the folder on thumbnail view or not, makes no divergence.

Here's a search from file explorer:

Hither'due south what appears when I outset typing on outset screen but not hit enter, thumbnails nowadays fifty-fifty if small, withal helps much when dealing with many files named similarly:

And here'southward when I hitting enter and go the same results in 'search app', thumbnails are gone and replaced with icons. Thumbnail only appears on mouse over but this is essentially useless since it's a rather irksome and tedious procedure to manually hover over them and cannot provide a glance through all of them simultaneously, which is why I need thumbnails during search in the first place:
